Cocounut's Fish Cafe was one of our favorite stops in Hawaii.
Although Coconut’s is called a fish cafe, fish tacos aren’t the only thing on the menu. There truly is something for everyone here -- tacos, sandwiches, salads, rice bowls, and pasta -- but our favorite thing on the menu are the tacos. There are a variety of tacos on the menu: fish, chicken, steak, kalua pork, and veggie (a compressed veggie patty, not tofu). The tacos come two per order. You have to get two of the same kind, so if you want to try more than one kind, share with a friend, but trust us: two is plenty! All of the tacos have a wasabi pineapple slaw on top, and it is awesome. It is the perfect sweetness to go with the taco. The tacos really are best if you get everything on them, even though this makes them pretty messy.
The appetizers and sides on the menu are yummy, too, and big enough to share. We liked the fries and coconut shrimp best.
Coconut’s has a fun surfer atmosphere with kind and helpful staff. We will definitely be returning, and we recommend that you check this place out if you’re near any of its 5 locations (2 on Maui, 1 on Kauai, 3 in Arizona, and 2 in California)!
