The Residence Inn Garden Grove is our go-to hotel whenever we go to Disneyland.
We love the suite rooms that accommodate our family of nine (three queen beds and a sofa bed), which end up being cheaper for our family than staying in separate rooms, and we appreciate that there are fridges and kitchenettes in the rooms so we can buy food and keep it in the room. There is a large laundry room, pool, hot tub, and barbeque area, making it the ideal place for families to stay
Although the hotel is not right across from the park entrance (it is a 1.2-mile walk to get to the park), there is a Disney shuttle stop outside the hotel. The shuttle comes about every twenty minutes and tickets can be purchased at the hotel for $5 a day. The hotel is near a Target and other restaurants if you need to do some last-minute shopping or want to eat outside the park
Breakfast at this hotel is often busy, but there is a lot of seating (both inside and out), and staff work hard to make sure that the food is well-stocked. Breakfast includes a waffle-making station, eggs, and meat (ham or sausage), along with typical continental breakfast items like pastries and cereal. We love being able to leave the hotel full before heading to the park, eliminating the need to buy breakfast or other snacks as soon as we make it into Disneyland
Especially at peak vacation times, the hotel can be quite busy. Parking fills up fast, and extra guests must park at the Hyatt hotel nearby. Sometimes the front desk takes a while to answer questions because there are so many guests needing help, and we often wait a long time for an elevator in the morning when people are checking out or heading to the parks. However, there are ways to get around this: get up a little earlier for breakfast, take the stairs, or ask the helpful housekeeping staff on your floor for whatever you might need. Overall, the rooms, price, location, and amenities make it a hotel we will return to again and again.
